The Mizuno JPX-923 Hot Metal will change the game of anyone who is a good or near consistent ball striker, adding forgiveness and a lot of ball speed and distance. The speed off the face had to be dialed back to keep these irons legal.
A new 4335 Nickel Chromoly is used in these irons. It is 35% stronger than the original Chromoly. That allows the face to be engineered 8% thinner. Now you have a very fast face across a much wider area.
That means significantly faster ball speeds generating more distance from a wider area of the face.
